About Me
I was born and raised in western Oklahoma and grew up in a small town on Route 66. At one point it ran by a house I was living in. I have spent the majority of my life in western Oklahoma except for a brief time in Wyoming. I received a Bachelor of Arts in English Education in 1988 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating summa cum laude, and I have since pursued a teaching career. I also has a background in journalism, having served as a women’s editor for the Clinton Daily News, Clinton, OK, a columnist and stringer for the Woodward News, Woodward, Oklahoma, and as a features writer and contributing editor for the Casper Star Tribune and the Casper Journal, Casper, Wyoming, respectively. I am a published poet and an avid amateur genealogist. I love to draw pencil portraits of people, and I am a confirmed people watcher and I use the traits I observe to create the characters for my books.
A Far Journey
Written for thirteen to eighteen-year-olds and those who are young at heart, the story is set in the 1960’s in western Oklahoma and addresses the timeless themes of acceptance, love, and learning to go on in the face of grief. The book has garnered numerous five-star reviews since its release, and has captured the hearts of its readers.
Candle of Dreams
In the final year of the Dust Bowl in western Oklahoma, three teens are drawn into a world of dreams that threatens to consume them even as it beckons and that sets in motion events that will haunt them the rest of their lives. Told from the viewpoints of each character, the story transports the reader back in time to experience a tale of timeless and lasting love.
